Sailing Tuition
Lazy Winch Ltd has been appointed as a licensed International Yachtmaster Training (IYT) sailing school. These courses are recognised by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, MCA, in the UK . All tuition takes place aboard the ‘Lazy Penelope’ cruising the Croatian Adriatic sea. We can offer the following courses:
Introduction to Yachting
This is a one day introduction to the joys of yachting and a first step for those who are considering Yachting as a career or pastime.
International Crew Certificate
This 3 day course both theory and practical, gives a basic understanding of the knowledge required to be an active crew member aboard a yacht either power or sail.
Radio Operators Certificate
This course covers general rules for the use and operation of VHF radios. What to do in emergencies and an introduction to other marine radio equipment.
International Bareboat Watchkeeper/ Basic Flotilla Skipper
Five day theory and practical, modules are aimed at increasing a students nautical knowledge sufficiently to be a watchkeeper on board a bareboat charter yacht or act as skipper on flotilla, this will be accepted by companies such as Sunsail when chartering.
International Certificate of Competency
The recognised certificate for most parts of the EU for those UK and Ireland citizens wishing to charter in Europe.
International Bareboat Captain / Skipper Certificate
This is certificate of excellence for those wishing to take command of a yacht confidently and safely and for those who wish to charter a yacht for vacation purposes in daylight hours in sight of land.
